Pink hats bearing the slogan “Future Footballers Wife” have been on sale at the Tatton Park estate have been severely criticised for their bad grammar.
“What sort of example is it setting for young girls, selling hats displaying such appalling grammar?” said Wendy Smith, a visitor from London.
Cheshire East Council, who runs the National Trust property in Cheshire, said the hats were a “genuine mistake”.
“Clearly, the designer missed out the apostrophe,” said a spokesman for the Council, “and for that we can only apologise.
“All the pink hats have been withdrawn and will not be on sale again until the apostrophe has been added.”
