Donald Trump plans to replace the iconic Statue of Liberty with a statue of himself as one of his first acts as America’s 45th President, it has been announced.

A spokesman for Trump said that the replacement will symbolize the change from old to new.

“The Statue of Liberty has had its day. It was designed and built by the French and we want something built by Americans.”

Work on a giant golden statue of Trump has already begun and will be completed in 2017. The Statue of Liberty, situated on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, will be dismantled and a ceremony marking the unveiling of the Statue of Trump is planned for July 4th.

The inscription on the Statue of Liberty contains the lines from a poem by Emma Lazarus, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”

This will be replaced by a plaque that reads ‘Make America Great Again’.
