Theresa May has announced that there will be a national Windrush Day every year on the 22nd June and, as a mark of respect, nobody will be deported on that day.

“We want to celebrate the contribution of the Windrush generation,” said the Prime Minister.

“So, on that day each year, even if they are in Yarl’s Wood about to be sent home, no flights will leave on 22nd June.”

A Home Office spokesman said that Sajid Javid and Theresa May will be visiting homes of Windrush migrants with food parcels and rum punches on the 22nd June.

“We want to welcome them to our country and I think a food parcel will make them feel at home,” said May.

“Amber Rudd won’t be joining us, I’m afraid. She doesn’t think that rum punches are consistent with a hostile environment.”
