Boris Johnson has been quoted in the media as saying that the million Poles living in Britain can stay and their “rights will be protected whatever happens”.
This is not current Government policy.
Theresa May and David Davis have consistently refused to give this assurance, while Liam Fox says that the status of EU nationals in Britain is a “bargaining chip”.
Boris Johnson has now said that he was misquoted and that he was only talking about “pole dancers”.
“They will have to register their details, including home address and telephone number,” said Boris, “and I will personally maintain the register.”
The fun-loving Foreign Secretary continued his thoughts.
“I have only one message for all pole dancers tonight: You are loved, you are welcome, your rights will be protected.”
