Continuing 2016’s unfortunate trend of famous musicians leaving the world prematurely, Mariah Carey’s career burned out forever on New Year’s Eve.

While the popular diva herself remains very much alive, after a disastrous performance on Dick Clarke’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, we are sad to announce that Ms Carey’s career is no longer with us.

After audio issues exposed some unforgivable lip-syncing, the million-strong crowd assembled at Times Square thought that it couldn’t get any worse.

However, ignoring the famous showbiz aphorism ‘The Show Must Go On’, the Grammy award-winning singer decided to storm off stage and leave her career dead on the floor.

“It was the worst performance I have ever seen,” conceded Seacrest.

“And I was on American Idol for 10 years.”
