Paramount Pictures have announced that they will be releasing a new Tomb Raider film next year, replacing Lara Croft with a male character, Larry.
The movie studio are hoping to find an audience with disenfranchised male fans who have grown angry with an all-female Ghostbusters cast, a female lead in Star Wars and a gender-fluid Dalek.
Zac Efron, whose schedule has recently been freed up after being replaced by Ryan Gosling in the upcoming Friends reboot, will replace Angelina Jolie as Croft in the new film, titled “Larry Croft Tomb Raider: The Mysterious Erection”.
However, some of the fans who voted for the change via Paramount’s online survey were not as delighted as the studio would have hoped.
“I think I made a mistake,” said Xbox fanatic Tim Jeffrey. “I just don’t think Zac Efron works in hot pants.”
However, long-time Tomb Raider fan Dirk Matthews was more positive
“I don’t care if it’s Angelina or Zac,” said Matthews. “I’d raid his/her tomb!”
