Hip-hop mogul Kanye West confirmed today through Twitter that he intends to run for President of the United States in 2020.
“If Oprah can do it, I can do it too,” said West.
“I know Oprah and I can beat Oprah because I can stay four steps ahead of Oprah, and also three steps to the side. So I can basically flank Oprah in any scenario.”
West has said in the past that if he runs he will likely push for higher taxes on “rich, white motherf**kers,” convert all public libraries into indoor go-cart race tracks and move the state of Texas to Canada.
“He’s serious about running and he’s serious about making a difference in this country,” added his best friend and wife Kim Kardashian.
“However, I haven’t seen him in person or talked to him at all for a year and a half, so he might have changed his mind.”
One person who is excited for West to run is Oprah Winfrey herself, who believes that they may even be able to pair up at some point.
In a recent interview Oprah said about West, “I’ve never met the man, but he seems like a well-adjusted, humble, classy, self-aware gentleman who could make one hell of a President.”
West is expected to make the announcement official on E! News this week and already has a long list of possible running mates, including Matt Lauer, Louie C.K. and Russell Simmons.
