EastEnders has announced that a new set of characters will arrive at Albert Square in order to bring the popular soap opera into line with the modern day East End.
Quentin, a Snapchat executive will move into No. 29, next door to the Mitchells’, and will be joined by his wife Tabatha and their daughter Willow.
“We’ve got a great storyline for the new family,” explained an anonymous scriptwriter.
“I won’t give too much away but let’s just say there’s a juicy planning permission saga coming up.”
Elsewhere on the Square, the Carters’ relinquish the lease for the Queen Vic to a gastropub chain, which sees the traditional pub grub replaced with a vegan pizza menu while the weekly disco will give way to a minimalist electro-soul night hosted by Phil Mitchell.
The revamp sees the new landlord face off with some angry locals who protest at the replacement of Quavers for a selection of nuts, pulses and dried fruits.
In a later storyline, Ian Beale is forced out of his cafe due to rent hikes and sets up a successful gin bar in a disused shipping container.
