Amazon have asked ex-Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond to test-pilot their new ice cream delivery drone, it has been announced.
On the next episode of The Grand Tour, Hammond’s co-presenters Jeremy Clarkson and James May will watch from the ground as their straight man takes off in the custom-made delivery drone.
Hammond’s mission is to deliver ice cream to every working men’s club in the north of England in a single day.
An Amazon spokesperson commented on the company’s decision to trial ice cream delivery on the popular motoring show.
“We’d been training high-performing hamsters to man the aircraft but one in ten of them kept eating the produce before it got to its destination.
“When we heard Richard say that he never eats ice cream, we knew that he was the right man for the job.”
Hammond is curious as to how the stunt will affect his public persona.
“A grown man flying a drone, you know, it’s a bit… it’s that way rather than that way.”
