‘No Trump’ will not be permitted as a bid in all official card games played in America, including Bridge, with effect from Friday, 20th January 2017.
A spokesman for President-elect Donald Trump said that it would be unpatriotic to have Americans saying ‘No Trump’ when representing their country.
“To have Mexicans and Canadians shouting ‘No Trump’ when playing a Bridge tournament in the United States cannot be allowed, so the bid will be prohibited,” continued the spokesman.
The American Bridge Association’s Chairman said that he was sympathetic with the sentiment and would consult the members.
“I’m just glad that we don’t have to change the name to Wall.”
