Theresa May has included a bill in the Queen’s Speech that raises the voting age from 18 to 40, it has been announced.

“It is quite obvious that young people don’t really know what they are voting for,” said the Prime Minister.

“It makes perfect sense to only let people vote once they have matured.

“We hope to have the bill passed and made law in time for the next general election, which could be any day now.

“Some of my Cabinet colleagues wanted to have a qualifying income level of £50,000 a year before people could vote but I felt that was undemocratic.”
