Two top-seed tennis players have been banned from playing at Wimbledon for five years because after being caught wearing black underpants.
The umpire spotted that Zsombor Piros of Hungary and Yibing Wu of China were wearing black underpants while playing in the boy’s doubles tournament.
The two 18-year-olds were ordered to change into white pants before resuming play.
“This was a clear violation of tournament rules,” said the 89-year-old umpire.
“It cannot be tolerated.”
“We have a strict all-white dress code,” said the 91-year-old tournament referee Andrew Jarrett.
“Luckily, we had plenty of white underpants on hand in the event of such an emergency.”
“We asked them to change into the white underpants and let them finish their match,” continued Jarrett, “but we have banned them from Wimbledon for five years in the hope that it will teach them a lesson.”
