A group of Syrian refugees have raised over £5000 to put towards Katie Hopkins’ legal fees after the MailOnline journalist lost a recent libel battle.
“We felt sorry for her,” said their spokeswoman.
“Anyone can find themselves in a bad situation and need some help.”
Hopkins was instructed to pay £24,000 in damages to food blogger Jack Monroe for incorrectly suggesting that she approved of vandalising war memorials.
Although the full legal costs have not yet been assessed, the television personality is likely to be facing a bill of least £300,000 in legal fees.
Collections for Katie Hopkins are being made outside food banks all over London.
Anyone wishing to help Katie get her career back on track can donate at their nearest food bank.
