Footballing legend Sir Bobby Charlton reportedly received an offer in excess of £30 million to sign a two-year deal with Chinese Super League club Port Shanghai FC.
If Sir Bobby is willing to make the trip East for the huge payday then he would link up with Brazilian stars Oscar and Hulk, who are already enjoying the luxuries associated with being Chinese football stars.
To sign such an established English star would be a massive coup for the growing Chinese League, especially after a heavily rumored move across from Diego Costa fell through.
“We were delighted when we found out that Charlton was a free agent,” said Shanghai Chairman Chen Xuyuan.
“He was a prolific scorer for both England and Manchester United and is a World Cup winner. What more can you ask for?”
Xuyuan admitted that his Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas was pushing for him to sign Wayne Rooney.
“But I keep reading that Rooney is declining. I have read no such thing about Sir Bobby!”
