Round Robin Christmas cards are the ultimate way to brag about your life to those you barely know, according to a middle class couple.

Julie and Martin Redgrave post holiday selfies and children’s exam results on Facebook throughout the year but use the festive period as an excuse to directly target old acquaintances.

“Social media’s great, but it’s not quite specific enough. By sending a card, I know for a fact that people all over the country will be subconsciously comparing their lives with mine and Julie’s,” smiled Martin.

“Better yet, they’ll feel obliged to hang the card next to their tree. Which will be smaller than ours.”

“I get a card from them every year even though I’ve never sent them one,” said Pete Atkinson, who lived next to the Redgraves 15 years ago.

“I usually use it as kindling for the fire.”
