Ridley Scott already has another Alien prequel lined up for 2017 and it’s going to be a big budget movie adaption of the worldwide reality game sensation Pokémon GO.
Sigourney Weaver will return to the series as Ellen Ripley’s great-grandmother, Elaine Ripley, and Michael Fassbender will reprise his Prometheus role as the enigmatic android David.
Early whispers on the script are positive and a source at 20th Century Fox has indicated that they believe that not only will this be the “alien prequel that Prometheus should have been” but it will also be the “first ever critically acclaimed game-to-movie conversion”.
Scott could hardly contain his enthusiasm for the project.
“With Pokémon GO, people spend their time wandering around strange places looking for alien creatures with electronic devices.
“It’s basically Aliens, but with the aliens being invisible. I can’t think of anything more terrifying.
“It’s only a matter of time before an unsuspecting Pokémon GO player gets impregnated by either a Likitung or a Dragonair Pokémon and ends up having a Pinsir burst out of their chest,” warned the Golden Globe-winning director, “and this film will explore that very scenario.”
When asked what would happen if that occurs in real life, Scott replied, “Game over, man. Game over.”
