Barack Obama was given a timeshare in Guantánamo Bay when he was appointed to office, it has been revealed.
The current President pledged to close the infamous detention facility when he entered the White House in 2009.
However, he soon changed his mind after members of the Senate explained Gitmo’s primary function as a tourist hotspot.
“I hadn’t realized it was a holiday camp.”
While he hasn’t had time to visit Guantánamo in the eight years that he has been Head of State, this is all going to change after Obama steps down in January 2017.
“I plan to spend a lot of time there during my retirement. Michelle and the kids are particularly excited.”
Obama’s successor, the President-elect Donald Trump, has different plans for the naval base.
“Two words. Trump golf course.”
