Infamous “Pharma bro” Martin Shkreli is to purchase a pronounceable surname for $2 million as soon as he has served his recent jail sentence.
The former CEO of Retrophin and Turing Pharmaceuticals, who gained notoriety for raising the HIV treatment drug Darapim by over 5000%, was found guilty of three counts of securities and wire fraud on Friday.
“I feel as if I’ve been victimised my entire life,” explained Shkreli outside the courtroom.
“And it’s because people have no idea how to pronounce my surname. Just like Milo Yiannopoulos.”
Shkreli is no stranger to making large purchases, buying the only copy of the Wu-Tang Clan’s Once Upon a Time in Shaolin album for $2 million in 2015.
“I want to stay true to my roots, keep it real and also secure a bargain by using most of the same letters, so how about Shakur?” asked Shkreli.
“That wouldn’t upset anybody, would it?”
