Lady Gaga has signed on to play Sly Stallone in a new biopic film about the actor’s life while he was writing his smash hit movie Rocky.
The movie will be directed by JJ Abrams and produced by his Bad Robot Productions film company, while Sony Pictures will handle all distribution.
“We just felt that it would be a braver, more modern choice to go with a female lead to play Stallone,” said Abrams.
“And there is no braver, stronger or more inspired female star today than Lady Gaga.”
Gaga has said for the film she is prepared to go “full Stallone”, wearing a lisp mouthpiece and getting hair implants on her face, so that she can grow a real beard.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to not only play a different gender, but to play an iconic star of a different gender,” said Gaga.
“It’s a lot like that one movie where that female actor played Bob Dylan. I forget who it was. I think she was blonde.”
The movie is set to start production in August and Bad Robot is pulling out all the stops; however, there is one thing they aren’t doing.
“We will not contact, talk to or ask Sylvester Stallone’s opinion on any of it,” said Abrams.
“Why? Because this isn’t his story. This is all of our stories. And in our story, he’s a woman played by Lady Gaga.”
