Labour MPs have elected Caroline Lucas, the only Green MP in the House of Commons, to be the Leader of the Opposition.
She will be putting the questions to the Prime Minister instead of Jeremy Corbyn at Prime Minister’s Question Time.
“We believe that Caroline will give Theresa May a much harder time than Jeremy has been doing,” said a leading Labour MP, who wished to remain anonymous.
“Jeremy insists on asking Mabel, who cleans his flat on a Thursday, what questions he should ask the Prime Minister.
“Now, Mabel is quite well up on local politics in Islington but hasn’t really got the breadth of knowledge and experience needed on a national level.”
“Jeremy is still the Labour leader,” said a party spokesperson.
“He’ll just be spending more time on his allotment.”
