A large number of longstanding fans are up in arms about Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, the latest instalment in the lucrative game and film series.
Many are claiming to have been “brutally traumatized” by various changes that the developers have made, including a switch to a first person viewpoint and a focus on survival horror.
Resident Evil superfan Jorge Moniak was particularly scathing, giving the game a 0/10 on Metacritic.
“It just wasn’t Resident Evil,” complained Moniak.
“I mean, okay, so it had the herbs and the survival horror and the inventory management and the puzzles, but apart from that it was unrecognizable!”
“I was pretty much too scared to play it – and where were the zombies?!”
The 34-year-old’s favorite game of the series is Resident Evil 4, which also didn’t contain any zombies.
“If I’m being totally honest, Biohazard was actually pretty good,” conceded Moniak.
“If it had been called ‘Outlast 2’ or ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Game’ then I would have given it an 8.
“But as it’s called Resident Evil, I’m sticking with my 0!”
