Playing a wizard will be disastrous for Eddie Redmayne’s career, according to Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe.
Redmayne is one of the hottest names in Hollywood right now. The Academy Award-winning star is regarded as one of the best actors of his generation and is the lead role in the new JK Rowling box office monster, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’.
But according to Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, this success will be short-lived.
“Once you have been typecast as a wizard, you can forget about having an acting career,” cautioned a slightly drunk Radcliffe, talking from a payphone near his Hackney bedsit.
“Look at the most famous wizard actors in the world,” continued the former child star. “Me, the two Dumbledores, anybody who has ever played a Weasley, and Willow.
“What have we done since?” wailed Radcliffe. “We spend most days and nights on our internet support group, reliving old spells.”
When told that Sir Ian McKellen, who brought Gandalf to life in the Lord of the Rings films, went on to star in the successful X-Men franchise, Radcliffe was quick to retort that McKellen has been replaced by non-wizard actor Michael Fassbender.
“When I was playing Harry Potter, I was on top of the world,” reminisced Radcliffe. “Men wanted to be me and women wanted to be friends with me.
“But now there are only two options for a washed-up wizard actor. Porn or obscurity.
“I tried getting naked in Equus. I didn’t like it.”
