The character of Ned Stark is to be brought back to life in the next series of Game of Thrones, with Ed Sheeran replacing Sean Bean in the role.
“Sean did well first time around but now we want to appeal to a younger audience,” said a spokesman for HBO.
“Ed is perfect in the role.”
Ed Sheeran said that he was delighted to get the opportunity to play Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North.
“I probably shouldn’t tell you this but I get to slay all three dragons and reclaim the Iron Throne,” explained the pop star.
“Getting to play Ned Stark in the Game of Thrones sort of makes up for only having nineteen of my songs in the Top 20 chart.”
