Tom Brady has announced that his fans have nothing to worry about regarding his gracing of the cover of Madden 18, as he actually controls the so-called ‘Madden Curse’.
With the news that the New England Patriots’ quarterback is to feature on the cover of the NFL video game Madden 2018, there was suddenly hope that the Madden Curse would take hold and stop another Belichick/Brady season of domination.
The Madden Curse has been destroying the season for nearly 20 years and, in some cases, the career of whichever NFL player was on the cover.
That hope was crushed when Tom Brady revealed that the curse was conjured by the Prince of Darkness himself, Tom Brady.
We should have seen this coming. Brady came into the league in 2000, the year that Madden 2001 was released, which marked the first year of cover athletes and the start of the curse.
Since then Brady has been forcing John Madden to select NFL players that he wishes to hex. Upstart quarterbacks in particular have felt the full force of Brady’s wrath.
Daunte Culpepper, Donovan McNabb, Vince Young and Mike Vick all looked set to challenge Brady, who simply arranged for them to be put on the cover the following year. These star athletes then failed, sometimes in agony.
“I had to curse Rob Gronkowski last year to throw suspicion away from me,” admitted Brady.
“But let’s face it, Gronk probably would have got injured anyway and I didn’t need him to continue my evil reign of terror.”
