Twilight is all the fault of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, according to the star of the seminal ’90s TV show, Sarah Michelle Gellar.
‘Buffy’ received plaudits for being groundbreaking fantasy television, but it hides a dark secret.
Gellar recently admitted that sometimes she wakes up in the middle of the night screaming and in a cold sweat. The reason? Buffy herself blames her show for Twilight ever existing.
Before Buffy, vampires were charismatic, evil, blood-sucking creatures of the night.
But Buffy’s love interest Angel changed all that and paved the way for vampires to be brooding, emo stalker guys, obsessed with teenage girls 100 years younger than them.
“Without Buffy, Edward Cullen never happens,” explained a haunted Gellar.
“I suppose at least Angel could do some damage, but Cullen is like his wimpy, camp younger brother.
“The werewolves, the love triangles…it all came from Buffy. It’s our fault!
“I’m not taking the blame for Bella though. That spineless, head-shaking girl makes Cordelia look deep.”
